<p>An alternative is to use unicode subscript and superscript
characters. See
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_subscripts_and_superscripts">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_subscripts_and_superscripts</a>.
You should be able to copy & paste what you need from that web
page. With the caveat that Chimera's label font doesn't support
all of those characters.</p>
<p>For example:</p>
<p> 2dlabels create l1 xpos .5 ypos .5 text hello¹</p>
<p>works.<br>

Hi Leonard,
<div class="">We're glad you like Chimera!</div>
<div class=""><br class="">

<div class="">I *think* you would just need to make another 2D
label with smaller size and then manually try to position it as
a super- or subscript on the other label. At least, that's how
I would do it. See screenshot attached. I just eyeballed the
size and position. Of course they don't have to be in a
different color than the primary label, I just did it that way
to make them stand out as separate labels.</div>

<div class="">I hope this helps,</div>

Hi,<br class="">
<br class="">
I am using Chimera for several years now and I really enjoy
it, but there is one issue I could not solve until now:<br
class="">
<br class="">
Is it possible to have subscript/superscript for the 2D
labels? For example something like “subunit A\_{1}” and
“subunit A\^{1}” that I can type either in the 2d labels GUI
text part or with the 2dlabels command, which gives me the
raised and lowered versions of the “1”?<br class="">
<br class="">
I am confident that this feature might be already implemented
given Chimera’s impressive amount of tools, but I was not able
to find it in the documentation so far…<br class="">
<br class="">
Thanks in advance!<br class="">
<br class="">
Best regards,<br class="">
<br class="">
Leonard<br class="">
