This works for me in the current ChimeraX 1.4 or daily build. For example,<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">open 1a0m</div><div class="">save test.obj</div><div class="">open test.obj</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Loading the OBJ shows it as the same ribbon that I saved. I guess this is a problem with the software you are using to read the OBJ file. If saving the OBJ ribbon and loading it in ChimeraX does not give the correct shape then you can use ChimeraX menu Help / Report a Bug.... We don't debug other software's OBJ readers though.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Tom</div><div class=""><br class=""><div><br class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class="">On Sep 12, 2022, at 7:19 PM, Daniel VillanuevaAvalos <<a href="mailto:danielvillanuevaavalos@gmail.com" class="">danielvillanuevaavalos@gmail.com</a>> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class="">I am exporting a single chain (chain A from 6ykm) and saving it as an obj, but when I import it, only points get imported, while other times, I am able to import geometry with faces. <div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Thank you, </div><div class="">Daniel. </div></div><br class=""><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">El lun, 12 sept 2022 a la(s) 20:08, Tom Goddard (<a href="mailto:goddard@sonic.net" class="">goddard@sonic.net</a>) escribió:<br class=""></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Not sure what you mean by points and faces. Maybe you should include a picture of what it looks like in ChimeraX and what the OBJ looks like. Also try opening the OBJ in ChimeraX. If the OBJ looks ok in ChimeraX then the problem is with whatever software you are using to open the OBJ. You should also say what software you are using.<br class="">
