Argh, I hadn't thought of the 32bit vs. 64 bit problem. I'll need to  
make universal binaries...

I also use boost.serialization, boost.mpi, hdf5 (with szip support),  
fftw3. I could compile Boost "by hand" and force it to use python2.5  
(either the framework in /System or the one in Chimera).

You're probably compiling the framework on 10.5. On 10.6 it doesn't  
compile; see http://bugs.python.org/issue6802.
