Hi Surendra,
Chimera is not able to write MRC files.
Perhaps you know of a separate program that can extract a region of
an MRC file. You can get the bounds of the cropped region from
Chimera. Turn on "Show bounds and step in region panel" in the volume
viewer / options panel. Then the volume viewer region panel will show
the matrix indices (zero based) corresponding to your cropped region.
I do not know of an easy to use program that extracts MRC subregions.
The EMAN package proc3d program can probably do it. The SPIDER package
can probably also do it. These are packages for processing electron
microscope data that can be found on the web.
