Hi Christian,
	It's possible that your shell is imposing a limit on memory use by a  
single process.  Before starting Chimera, remove the memory limit of  
your shell by typing:

csh-type shell:  unlimit

sh-type shell: ulimit -v unlimited

	Let me know if this helps or not.
