[Chimera-users] misconfiguration error in just one user account

I doubt that the preferences file has anything to do with this.  Please 
file a bug report with chimera's Help / Report a Bug dialog so I'll have 
enough information about your system to make a good suggestion on how to 
debug this program.  And please include the output of the glxinfo 
program that you run after chimera starts failing.
