[Chimera-users] reading in electron density map H32 vs R32

Hi Christine,

  Chimera typically uses spacegroup information from PDB files and ignores that information in the density map files.  If you wrote a CCP4 format file (usually .map file suffix) from some other software it will put the spacegroup number in the file header (header field ispg), and will sometimes also put the symmetry operators in the header.  Chimera ignores the space group number.  It reads the symmetry operators if they are present but only uses them in limited ways, like if you use the “vop cover” command to extend an asymmetric unit map.
