Hi Cao,

  Chimera Gaussian filtering is done by the “vop gaussian” command described in the Chimera manual

It convolves a 3d Gaussian function with a map, a very standard operation that smooths data.  It is implemented with a fast Fourier transform.  Look up “gaussian convolution” online to find more details about the math, for example,
