[chimerax-users] activate model selectively

Dear Gabor,
It’s a reasonable question! To do this in ChimeraX isn’t exactly the same as in Chimera, but similar…
For moving by hand:
There is a mouse mode to move only the model(s) with some part selected. For example, if you click the icon in the "mouse-modes for right button” toolbar (default location down the left side of the ChimeraX window) that looks like a selected water molecule with a horizontal arrow below it, then the right mouse button will move only model(s) with some part selected. The right-button mouse-mode icons are described here:
<http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/tools/mousemodes.html>
A touchpad or single-button mouse can be used with modifier keys to emulate middle and right mouse buttons. On a Mac, these are alt and command, respectively.
You can also assign a different button (left or middle) to this function if you prefer, using the “mousemode” command:
<http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/mousemode.html>
For moving with commands:
The commands “move” “turn” and “roll” have a “models” option for specifying the model(s) to move, e.g.
<http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/turn.html>
I hope this helps,
Elaine
