Hi Bert,
Glad you like ChimeraX! Coloring by map value is an option of the “color” command:
<http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/color.html#map>
For example, if the main density map shown as an isosurface is #1 and the local resolution map is #2,
color sample #1 map #2 palette rainbow
