[chimerax-users] Improved VR support in ChimeraX

Hi Gökhan,

We continue to work on virtual reality in ChimeraX and think it can be very useful for research and education and communication between scientists in multi-person VR sessions collaboration on 3D molecular structure problems.

Nanome is a 26 person company with one commercial closed source product that does molecular VR, they raised $3 million in venture capital funding in Feb 2021 and millions before that and have limited free versions, $200 per year basic versions an $5000 per year full featured versions.

This is quite different from ChimeraX VR with about 0.25 people (me), free for academic use, open source. We will not be duplicating the work of a 26 person company. For a production black-box molecular VR system you should of course use Nanome. And for doing new experimental stuff you might want to use ChimeraX VR.

	Tom
