[chimerax-users] Change default palette for sequential coloring?

Hi Oliver,
The only user-interface approach I can think of (as opposed to modifying code) available at this time is to just make an alias for the coloring command with your desired palette and put it in your Startup commands in the Preferences. E.g.

alias rb rainbow palette RdYlBu-11

(notice that "RdYlBu-5 (3-11)" is not the palette name, it includes the range of possible numbers of colors used; you would use a number in the 3-11 range for the name of the palette, with 5 being the default if you omit the number entirely... they are sort of mnemonic except that Bu is blue)

alias command

Startup preferences
<https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/preferences.html#startup>

If you want to hard-code it, somebody else would have to advise.

I hope this helps,
Elaine

I really like "RdYlBu-5 (3-11)", but I can never remember the name or syntax, and for quick jobs I would love to be able to to set the default coloring scheme so it is just set up the way I like it.
