[chimerax-users] Chimera system requirements

ChimeraX runs fine with 8 GB of memory and any CPU from the last 10 years, so more or less any machine will do. We used to say your machine should be less than 4 years old but we said that about 5 years ago. Of course if you look at big data like ten 1 Gbyte EM maps and 10 structures with half a million atoms you might do better with 64 GB and a modern CPU. Also important is the GPU. Intel graphics in many laptops is adequate, but again big data would rotate the view and compute shadowed lighting faster with a gaming video card.
