[Chimera-users] Residue information failed

Hi Tom,

Thanks for help. It's indeed not related to registration, just that I found the "problem" after I registered. After testing many settings, I finally got to know that the function of showing the residue information was "popup balloons" under the "label" settings :) and it was turned off by accident so that I didn't notice it. And it works again very well after I turned it on. My bad :)

Thanks again,
Kunrong

Instead it is probably that the graphics driver was updated on your machine (for a Windows 10 machine this might happen during an automatic update). And the new graphics driver probably does now work correctly. This is just a guess. Can you use ctrl-click to select an atom or residue? Usually that is broken too if the popup balloons don’t work and that is a sure indication of a graphics driver problem. The fix is to update (or rollback) your graphics driver to one that works. You can use Help / Report a Bug in Chimera to send us a bug report that will list your graphics driver so we could be more certain that is the problem.

Normally, Chimera automatically displays the residue information (residue name, model ID, chain ID, and residue number...) by default when the mouse pointer is placed at a special position. This is ultra helpful when analyzing structures. My problem is that, after I registered to Chimera today, this function lost and it doesn't show the residue information any more. Has anyone met this kind of problem before? Or does anyone know how to fix it?
