No. If there was a direct way I would have mentioned it in my previous reply to the same question.  The most similar thing is the pivot mode.

There’s a “view” command to center on specified objects, but it also zooms.  There is no option to keep scale (zoom) unchanged and  center on some specified object.  The closest thing would be to specify focusing the view on the object and surrounding zone, e.g.

view sel @<8
