The ChimeraX menu entry Help / Report a Bug... can also be used to make a feature request such as the centering mouse mode. That will go into our database of requests -- currently there are 229 open feature requests.
If you want Coot-like behavior you should check out the ISOLDE ChimeraX tool which has to be installed using ChimeraX menu Tools / More Tools....

Is there a way to center the view based based on where you click (similar to chimera, pymol, coot)? I think that would be really helpful in combination with cofr centerOfView. It's also a very handy way to navigate maps and models, by clicking on where you want to center.

Was wondering if there are plans to add support for modifying mouse keys with ctrl (similar to what is in chimera). I am also wondering if there are plans to create a recenter + change pivot button/function that is also part of chimera.
